SERF - Survey Vessel
The Shoreline Environmental Research Facility maintains and operates a 24-foot (27’ LOA) Lafitte Skiff to survey coastal inland waters. The vessel is “trailerable” for rapid deployments to distant sites along the coast. Onboard equipment includes 8KW/120 V/60 Hz marine generator, air conditioned cabin, rigging for towing submersible instrument packages with Acrobat Tow System (see below), acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP), GPS, and multi-frequency depth sounder. This vessel is used to track dispersed oil plumes as well as other environmental events (eg., red tide blooms).
